For those in an office job, watching people enjoying the sun while you’re sat at your desk can be pretty disheartening. As an employer, you want to do everything you can to ensure your employees get to enjoy what they can of summer, while still being as productive as possible.
So, what’s the answer? Office perks can go a lot further than financial rewards in these situations, so you may need to get creative in your solutions. A great way to create a good office morale is to plan some alternative corporate event activities!
Here are some of our favourite ways to bring employees together and enjoy the sun during the warmer months.
Activity days
Activity days are often a go-to corporate event idea, so why not take it up a notch and treat your employees to something slightly unexpected?
You can find team-building events aplenty, but will your employees not enjoy themselves more if you treat them to a day at the zoo? What about zorbing? Or creating your own makeshift bingo hall and offering some prizes?
We bet your employees won’t forget an activity day like some falconry! Test the water and see which of these your employees like the sound of, and go ahead and book it – we’re sure they won’t experience the same perks in any other job.
Outdoor cinema
During summer, everyone wants to make the most of the warm evenings, especially if you’re sat in an office all day. We can think of no better way to do that than to grab a picnic blanket, some snacks and settle down in front of a good film – outside!
Outdoor cinemas pop up in the most unassuming of places during summer, so have a hunt around and find out when the nearest one is. Whether you want to see something new or a classic, outdoor cinemas make a habit of mixing it up with some of each. It certainly beats sitting in a dark room and watching a film, and it will be a real experience employees won’t forget.
See a show
If you’re after something even more memorable than an outdoor cinema viewing, you’ll find nothing as unique as watching a live show.
Rather than thinking theatre, switch it up with something a bit different. After all, when was the last time you went to the circus? If that’s not your bag, how about a magic show? For something even more sophisticated, treat your employees to the cabaret. The possibilities are endless.
Do a class together
If the main aim of your corporate event is to get your employees working together (without coming across too cheesy) enrol them in a class.
There are plenty to choose from, so it makes sense that you should be able to find something everyone will enjoy – even if it’s not something everyone will excel at.
Whether you go for baking, cooking, drawing or pottery, just make sure it isn’t related to your field of work. It’s great if employees develop new skills while they have a good time, but you don’t want them to think this is a training day!
Kayaking
Rather than head for another night out on your next quarterly staff night, why not head to the hills and have a weekend kayaking on a beautiful lake?
You’ll be able to breathe in the summer air and enjoy the stunning scenery, all while enjoying the experience of kayaking – we can’t think of any better way to spend a sunny day!
